ANMDA NSW Celebrates CME and Family Day

Australasian Nepalese Medical and Dental Association (ANMDA) NSW was delighted to organise a CME session and a family day out in Sydney on Sunday 7 August 2022. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, there were many webinars through video conferencing and  everyone was enthusiastically waiting to meet in persons. It was wonderful to catch up face to face with family and friends.

CME was held at Coogee Bay Hotel. There were more than 35 medical team and family members. Our participants were General Practitioners, Psychiatrist, Infectious Disease Specialists, Rehabilitation Physician, Nuclear medicine physician, Dentists, yoga practitioners, nurses and medical students preparing for Australian Medical Council exams.

The program started by acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land. The program was coordinated by Dr Ganesh Shrestha, General Secretary ANMDA. Dr Anupam Pokharel, ANMDA President, based in Melbourne also attended the program.

The program was chaired by Dr Ghana Shyam Chapagain, past president. The topics covered were: Anticoagulants on Stroke Management (Dr Rabi Thapaliya), Holistic Approach in Dental Health (Dr Srijana Thapaliya), Life style modification (Dr Ganesh Shrestha), Women’s health: Menopause (Dr Anju Pandey), Medical marijuana in Mental Health (Dr Anupam Pokharel), Covid-19 management update (Dr Rabindra Dotel), Engineered yoga anatomy (Laxmi Shrestha).

Dr Surendra Khanal and Dr Sirjana Sharma facilitated medical students to prepare for exam, prepare better CVs and searching job opportunities.

One of the medical student said ‘This program was very useful and informative to prepare for exams, understand prospect of medical opportunities in Australia and would recommend other colleagues in future’.

The program ended by lunch in Coogee Beech Park.
